This concert marked the first collection of biological samples from Alzheimer’s patients to study the impact of music on gene expression in this population, thanks to the collaboration with the AGADEA patient association. Over 300 blood and saliva samples were collected from attendees at a 50-minute concert performed by the Agrupación Musical Sanarte in the Sala Mozart at the Auditorio de Galicia (Santiago de Compostela). This served as a proof of concept to calibrate our central hypothesis on which the SENSOGENOMA project is based: musical stimulation has the ability to impact gene expression.
